Who's got stuff for the weekly update?

Me, I have:

* Vox shutting down/promo invite code
* Community Rec-o-matic
* How to find cool stuff on DW
* "But how do I know they're not just going to disappear overnight like GreatestJournal did?"

Anybody else got stuff?

Spam seems to be up. Accidental deletions of OpenID comments as spam also seem to be up, with this new influx of people importing their journals. A reminder about what is and is not spam might not go amiss.

Thank you for deleting spam comments. Remember, most spam is anonymous comments trying to get you to visit their site to buy shoes, stolen credit cards, or viagra -- or something that looks like a cat typed it (with or without website or suspiciously vague compliment). If you delete something that's not spam by mistake, don't despair -- if it's obviously not spam, the antispam team will close the report without taking action, so you don't need to worry about getting a friend's OpenID account in trouble.

Selecting the option to report as spam when deleting spam does matter. This is still a small site, and you may be the only person reporting that particular source of spam, even if it's a spam campaign you've seen before.

Seconded. I want to encourage people to send us their spam reports, because the more reports we get, the easier we can identify repeat offenders. It also gives us a better idea of just how much spam is hitting the service, because we can only measure reported spam.

(And we're not THAT small! :)

I've seen an opinion on LJ going around that it doesn't matter on LJ if you delete spam or not, because they're going to have hit someone else, so they'll already be reported.
