Who's got stuff for the weekly update?
Me, I have:
* Vox shutting down/promo invite code
* Community Rec-o-matic
* How to find cool stuff on DW
* "But how do I know they're not just going to disappear overnight like GreatestJournal did?"
Anybody else got stuff?

Finally, I'm hosting a Friending Frenzy over at my journal. Even though it was posted last week, I'm still getting comments this morning. There are 338 comments at last count, and a LOT of new-to-DW folk have shown up.
And yes, I'm aware that Friending Frenzy uses legacy terminology. Access and Subscription Frenzy just doesn't have the same ring to it, y'know?

Thank you for deleting spam comments. Remember, most spam is anonymous comments trying to get you to visit their site to buy shoes, stolen credit cards, or viagra -- or something that looks like a cat typed it (with or without website or suspiciously vague compliment). If you delete something that's not spam by mistake, don't despair -- if it's obviously not spam, the antispam team will close the report without taking action, so you don't need to worry about getting a friend's OpenID account in trouble.
Selecting the option to report as spam when deleting spam does matter. This is still a small site, and you may be the only person reporting that particular source of spam, even if it's a spam campaign you've seen before.

The best piece of advice I can give? While it's true that a portion of my dwircle consists of people I knew from LJ -- either they crosspost on both DW & LJ or they migrated over around the same time as me (pretty much since the start of open beta), the majority of it is comprised of people I met on DW. And while it's also true that the fandom communities on DW aren't as active as those on LJ, it isn't really true that the DW community as a whole isn't active. It's fairly active. But instead of finding new people via communities, you find them through comments and linkblogs or the occasional friending/subscription meme. I guarantee that's how I found the majority of my dwircle and/or how they found me.
So if you can tell the LJ refugees that, that your way of getting new friends is different, it will help in keeping people here, rather than making an account then eventually going back to LJ.
