Along with the roots of DW in the LJ codebase, is some of this why posting images on DW is not as trivial as it is with lots of other services? If users find it harder to post images/video on a site, the people running the site have less work to do.

(I am not complaining that my subscription feed is not filled with cat pictures and trite sayings in the form of images because they are just so much more meaningful like that.)
