Interesting.

I am betting a lot of users (like me) are readers and commenters rather than posters. Is that covered under "active in some way?" Or is there any way to see how many accounts have posted comments and/or check their reading page vs. created an account, posted once, and have it just sitting there?

Oh! I'm surprised about the community exclusion. Though now that I am thinking about it, those would be harder to tally. Very interesting!

I, for one, am glad you mistakenly posted this publicly. So, thanks! :)

Nowadays, it seems as though some folks make a point of signing up for any new service that comes along whether or not they're going to use it, mostly so that they can stake out their desired username. I wonder how many of the "never posted" accounts that accounts for.

To be totally fair, some of that is due to prevent trolls from registering one's username and setting up accounts to impersonate you/make people think that you're out there being evil yourself. I know at least one person who registered her LJ name on DW because she has had a problem with trolls setting up accounts designed to impersonate her. (She's not my friend, so that's all I'm going to say.)
