I don't think I could take seeing them every day or two, but once in a while I do find that sort f thing interesting (I guess "every three, four months" fits well in my mental image of once in a while).

FWIW, these stats and many others are also available here, though I suspect the URL is subject to change at some point as part of the general de-.bml-ification of the site.

I have a gut feeling that the apparent spike in 30-year-olds is inaccurate and fear the worst (not implying any management malpractice) about how it might have come about, observing that LJ has a spike that's several times as prevalent and several times as suspicious.

The link does work without the .bml, too -- all of our URLs work both with and without.

(There's also http://www.dreamwidth.org/stats/site which is our spiffy new and improved version, including paid account percentages and breakdowns on activity by account type, etc etc ... but the cron job that generats those isn't running right now; Mark decommisioned the job server and spread the tasks out to other machines, and a cronjob got accidentally missed...)

As for the 30-year-olds, yeah, I'm not sure WTF is up with that. At all.

I wonder if it's as simple as 1980 being a popular choice for "I don't want to disclose my age." (In other words, the same reason why there's a spike at 39/40 and at 109.) You might be able to find out by seeing how many of those have registered birthdays of January 1st, although I suspect there are a lot of people who make up a year but enter their actual birthday because they want the friend birthday reminder thing to work.
