update notes
Notes to self for this week's update:
* synthesis of the invite code discussion from last week
* new-default-layout poll
* NaNo promo (say that 10 times fast)
* What else does the spellcheck dictionary need?
Who else has stuff?

I will probably have more by the end of the weekend, we'll see how much coding I can get done.

A State of the Suggestions?
A "so we opened up posting to dw_codesharing and this is how it's going" and also a "btw, this is how you get that off your reading page if you want to watch the signal and not the noise" tutorial? (Default View, add everything, select dw_codesharing, pick 'NOT tag', pick the 'codes available tag', it is autosaved for you, no need to hunt for the save button WHICH I DID FOR THREE MINUTES)

* I...I think we really need to talk about the status of reading LJ friends pages on our reading lists. I really get the feeling like it's not going to happen, myself, and I think a lot of people are waiting on this feature, and really wanting it, and it's probably best to let them know what's going on with it and why and get it over with.

If he had to talk, I guess that means that now it can't happen unless we find someone who, by some sort of freaking miracle, is willing to listen to us?
Or can we find a way regardless?

I am somewhat against (still) announcing the opt out in a hugely public place. We don't have a widget for it, IIRC? So you still have to go to the console to type it.
But if you think it best to announce that, set latest_optout yes at the console will do the trick. You can do it for your community, too, if you want, although I forget the exact syntax.
Also, if you tell me what tag to use, I can set it up so that we have a 'latest posts for tag X' feed, too. I was torn between nano09, nanowrimo09, nnwm09, or something. Not sure. Thoughts?
Edit: I decided on nnwm09:
http://www.dreamwidth.org/latest?tag=nnwm09
Anybody who tags an entry with nnwm09 (and would otherwise be included in the latest posts feed) shows up at that special URL. And only posts with that tag.
