Have lost track of whose turn it is to do the update (we keep swapping out our actual turns), but I'm pretty sure this month is mine. Who's got stuff for it?
I don't have anything to give you, but I'd be interested in maybe a little about a few of the more interesting bugs added to bugzilla in the latest batch
I think some news on how the "read journals on other sites on your DW reading list" project would be welcome. It's been some time since we heard anything about it. (Sorry, I fail at writing coherently today.)
Haven't mentioned it because we haven't made any progress beyond the tentative spec-and-scope stage; it requires some careful negotiation with other sites, epic and thoughtful plotting, and a hell of a lot of tedious and fiddly work, and it's the sort of project that requires a few people giving a lot of dedicated time (which we haven't had yet; once Mark is fulltime on DW there'll be more of that). There's tons of projects like that, and an update consisting of "these are the projects we haven't made any progress on" is not the kind of thing either of us like to do; it takes too much of a focus off things we have done to report on things we haven't.
Which isn't to say we haven't made any progress at all, but it's not the kind of stuff that makes for good copy! It's hard to explain "okay, look, we've got about 3% of this done, and no, you can't actually see any of it, and you won't be able to use it for a while, and we don't even have any code checked in, so you'll just have to take our word for it"...
Looking for people interested in helping with the DW stats system, but not sure a shout-out in news is the best way to get volunteers. (I already posted about it in dw_dev_training, but if you have an additional suggestion, I'm buyinginterested.)
"In our move to keep the site stable, fast, and generally awesome, we're in the middle of moving to a new production system. We will no longer be on shared machines and will now be on fully dedicated hardware.
Keep an eye on dw_maintenance for an announcement of an extended downtime next week for us to actually move the site to the new location. It should be a pretty painless procedure (for you, maybe not for us)..."
