As foxfirefey said, you shouldn't feel bad! This is the kind of thing that only concerns people if they're either a) software engineers, b) software project managers, or c) people who take a real interest in the software lifecycle, either because it's something they find interesting or because there's a specific project they're following. It isn't like it's something that everyone will know, even if you're a heavy software user/internet user :)
