I also think it might be fun for

fu to introduce herself, maybe talk a bit about what she is going to do, her experience on Dreamwidth/LiveJournal, or whatever. Totally up to her, but I bet the users would like it.

Wouldn't mind a semi-official message of the grassroots-ish thing I'm vaguely hoping to put together. Understand if not, though, for a number of reasons.

Hi! I have no idea if this would fit or would be appropriate, but I thought I'd drop a note in case it did.

I wrote up a rather long illustrated post on Setting Up One's OpenID at Dreamwidth as part of a comm I just set up. I've noticed it's gotten a few mentions on my Network and thought it might prove useful and worth pointing out. However, if it's not appropriate that's cool; I'm not entirely sure of the inclusion protocol for the news post, and it's certainly not official documentation of any kind

But yes, all you have to do is show up in irc and we will welcome you. It's not the All Tech All The Time channel; it's very much a microcosm of DW-the-service, so you get people who are working on all kinds of DW-related stuff and people who just like to hang out because it's fun. Although I'll warn you, hanging out in #dreamwidth means that sooner or later, you will get put in charge of something. (True story: the crossposter was written nearly entirely by someone who had been hanging out in irc with us during the run-up to closed beta because his partner was really interested in the project, and one morning when I was trying to get people to claim essential bugs, I jokingly told him that the project had his name written all over it. He delivered a working first draft, what, three weeks later?)

It's part of the fund raising bit, grass roots mentioned by

musing_way is hosting a contest to increase content and put funds in the coffers. I believe

girlgay will be as well, once their administrator is over her bug.

Yeah, we moved a few weeks ago. Freenode is just better at doing irc than we are, and we wanted to focus on what we were good at.

*pokes head in* How do I find out about the status of the payment system? Do I poke you on Monday?

If I don't email you something, yeah.

I'm trying to ponder ... given you are a day ahead of us, does it makes sense for you to post on your Monday (most users will get it on Sunday) or wait for Tuesday?

I'm leaning towards the latter. Or maybe, write it Monday so that you can post it early Tuesday. (Noon-ish on Tuesday = 9PM PDT Monday, which is just about perfect.)

I can try to post it about the same time as you or Denise usually do (about noon Tuesday my time).

I'm fine with waiting until Tuesday-our-time, too, since I was kinda lazy about that this past month and like 3/4 of the updates were posted Tuesday.

*laughs* Well, I've survived my first thirty minutes unscathed, and I hold fast to the two month boundary. Granted, once said two months is up I'm beginning to expect that I'll wake up one day and say "wait, what did I agree to do at three in the morning again?"

Oh, and there I was looking forward to finally seeing it on a Monday again.

As part of our change to a new payment system, we are updating our privacy policy with the next code push to remove mention of our old payment providers and add in information about the new one. The privacy policy itself states that major updates will be announced in dw-news. The relevant changes are:

* Removed mention of PayPal
* Added in section under new header "Financial information and transactions"

Next push will have a tag bundle of poetry, poem, poems, national poetry month
