The only real problem...

...with having so many of our contributors here for OSCON is that we have to balance "going to talks and conference sessions to learn awesome things" with "hunkering down on the couches and tables in the hotel lobby and hacking on awesome things".

(Things that people are or have been hacking on this week: image hosting; HTML5/jQuery/responsive-design etc mobile page; "fuzzy" feed matching so there will be fewer duplicate feed accounts and allowing for a "did you mean?" suggestion when creating a feed; extra icon add-ons; the bookmarks/memories overhaul; HTML5, responsive-design site skin; "clean up ALLLLLL the tiny bugs!" (that would be me!); backend/site-reliability stuff; upgrading the code to run on Perl 5.14 ... I'm pretty sure I'm missing stuff, too. Heh.)

From my perspective this is in no way a problem.

(But, um, sorry for the missing the sessions?)

Ooh, sounds useful!

I mean, all the stuff does, but that one stuck out at me. You know what I mean.

Anyway, have fun, whether it’s outside in the corridor or inside a session!

Here's one more thing on your plate: ALL THE HIGH-FIVES.

But also, relax some and eat all the good food. You're all so awesome and awesome people deserve awesome food. *nodnod*

You need a time turner so that you can live several parallel lives at Oscon. (In my world Oscon is a type of low ESR capacitor!)

Another unavailable alternative I have sometimes wished for is a high speed data link straight into my brain - too much to learn, too many books to read, only one lifetime.

Sadly I think the rooms are too closely spaced and the conference center too small to avoid meeting yourself [ which is apparently bad. ]

Oh man, I was just talking about how much easier it would be if Dreamwidth had a useful, usable mobile page and/or iPhone client. (I knowww, open web is best with universal mobile page, I wish there weren't obvious speed differences between mobile web and native client on my phone, but the idea of useful notifs that don't just fill up email clings to me like a barnacle.) But oh wow, ask and ye shall receive, apparently! ♥♥♥ to you all! (Is there a "bug"/feature request open for the mobile page that I missed?)

I don't think it's an existing bug, more like "oooo this HTML5 stuff is shiny! What can we do with it?"

So, I've been toodling around with making mobile page versions. I have a reading page, for instance, and an entry page, but a lot of pages still to do.

If you'd like to see how it's currently going (knowing that it might change), it would be easiest to make an account using your computer if you can:

http://www.memewidth.homeip.net

The invite is "ABCD". Good test content making users to subscribe to: "amy", "foxfirefey", "feylets"

Then, once you are logged in, check out at:

http://www.memewidth.homeip.net/mobile2

The "Reading Page" works there and not much else at the moment.

the bookmarks/memories overhaul, YAYYYYY! Is there any existing documentation on the plans? I believe I read something about ideas a while ago, but now I can't find it. (If it's not too much bother to link.)

Very, very cool. I LOVE the idea of incorporating bookmarks into DW. I also actually loved Allens ideas:
a) my bookmarks
b) my network's bookmarks
c) bookmarks on entries
d) popular bookmark tags for the site

Keep up the hard work!!
